How not to lose your Half-Price for life discount

There are some scenarios in which you might lose your Half-Price for Life discount. Knowing these may prevent you from losing it.

Understanding how your billing cycle works will also help you stay abreast of any upcoming changes to your plan.

You downgrade your plan

When you downgrade your plan, your Half-Price for Life discount is automatically removed from your account at the end of your last billing cycle when the actual downgrade takes effect.

Example: You sign up for the Standard Plus plan on June 1st. On June 15th, you downgrade to the Standard with Ads plan. The actual downgrade will occur on July 1st, when your last billing cycle ends effectively. On that day, you will no longer qualify for the Half Price for Life discount, which will be removed from your account. From then on, you will see the full price on your bills.

We recommend carefully reviewing the implications of changing your plan, especially regarding discounts and benefits, before downgrading.

Please be aware that if you realise the downgrade's impact too late, our Customer Care team will be able to restore your discount.

You change from monthly payment plan to annual

Changing from monthly to annual payment involves cancelling your monthly subscription and buying the annual subscription. Doing so will cause you to lose the Half-Price for Life offer. So please consider this before making the change.

We can't collect your payment due to an issue with your payment method, and your plan is cancelled

If your payment method cannot be charged at the time of renewal, for example, because the card has expired or doesn't have enough funds, the system will not be able to collect the payment. After several unsuccessful charge attempts, your plan will be automatically cancelled. As a result of the cancellation, the Half-Price for Life discount will be removed from your account and won’t be reinstated if you later decide to update your payment method and restart your plan.

Example: Your next renewal date is July 1st. We tried to collect the payment, but it could not be processed because the card was expired. The system will try charging your card every day for three straight days and then every other day after that for up to 27 days or a maximum of 15 attempts, a "grace period." During the grace period, you can renew your plan without losing any benefits. If you update your payment method within this period, you can retain your Half-Price for Life discount.

On the contrary, if the grace period expires the Half-Price for Life or any other offer applied to your account is permanently lost. So, for example, if you decide to update your payment method after the cancellation and restart your plan, we won't be able to re-add the discount to your account.

To avoid this from happening, we'd recommend:

  • Ensure that your payment method is up-to-date and has sufficient funds to avoid renewal issues.

  • Keep an eye on your subscription status, especially around the renewal date.

  • If your plan cannot be renewed due to payment issues, restart it during the grace period to retain the Half-Price for Life discount.

You cancel your plan but decide to rejoin after some time

Cancellation will always result in losing valuable offers applied to your account.  A way to avoid it is to restart your plan before your last billing cycle ends.

Example: If you signed up for SkyShowtime on June 1st and cancelled your plan on June 15th, your last billing cycle will end on July 1st. If you restart your plan any time before then, you will be entitled to retain your Half-Price for Life discount.
